The new terminal is an upgrade to already installed videophone terminals in many US prisons, and incorporates a patent pending VideoKall EFT 'engine' plus a keypad and SMART card reader. 

The VideoKall VK-PEN-02 video-payphone will be installed in prison visitor centers connected to a satellite terminal providing connectivity via an existing satellite to a VideoKall VK-PEN-01 prison inmate videophone at a distant participating prison.

During a scheduled satellite videophone call between visitor and inmate, the visitor can use a cash or credit card or prepaid SMART card to make an instant fund transfer to the inmate's prison commissary account.  Immediately the transfer is made a text message is displayed on the inmate videophone confirming the transfer has been made and providing a welcome instant gratification moment.
